Is the above still applicable to the latest CoffeeCup RSD? I realize the template example is not (wrong file type), but is the rest still applicable? If not, where can I find how to use RSD to tie into a single Wordpress site?

That article is for Responsive Layout Maker which I think has been sent to the bone yard. I'm sure you could take parts and apply it to Site Designer.
