Which platform? Mac or Win? - Post ID...

I'm platform agnostic having Win, Mac OS X (and Linux). I know from experience, some software just works better under a certain OS. For instance, I use Lightwave 3d on the Win platform mainly because it is developed on the PC. As such, it is more optimized for the PC with less hiccups than on the Mac platform. But the good thing about some 3d software developers, they don't charge extra for different platforms. The license is to the user ... not to the specific platform, as long as the user runs the software only on one computer at time.

Since Coffeecup follows a different business model and charges separately for Mac and Win versions, I have to decide which platform to use. Is RSD and RCS developed on the Mac or PC? Or is their true parity between the two.

Hi Gary,

IMO there is parity between the two. I used RCS and RSD on Windows and recently switched the OSX and my experience with the apps themselves have been relatively equal. That being said as a recently switched PC boy I love working on my Mac way better! No more random windows errors or antivirus conflicts with apps. As I have been told in the past.... Things just work.

Hi Steve,
That's good to hear. It seems I gravitate towards the Mac platform for web development because it just 'feels sexier'. Plus I have all my other web-oriented apps on the Mac like Flux V, Espresso and editors like Chocolat, Bbedit. :)

I can't say on the differences between the 2 OS for RSD or RCS, but I'm guessing if they are anything like RLMP there will be subtle things good and bad.

Right now in RLMP there are issues with the Edit mode of the text areas and links that don't give us access to use them properly on the Mac, but they work fine on Windows. I'm going to assume there are things that work better in Mac as well. I'm also going to guess that this is probably the case for RSD as well since it's based off the RLMP software. Not sure if these issues that RLMP has with Windows version have been fixed for RSD or not.

Anyways, the point being there will probably be little bits of pros and cons around the software for both OS's, best way to find out would be to trial it on both systems maybe and see if anything quirky is going on and then you'll know. :)

These issues are not in RSD that i can tell. I have been using it for over 2 weeks with no glitches. But yes I would definitely download the trials before you purchase! :)
