Hello all,
Just wondering if any one has had any problems installing the latest V3 2962 update?
I downloaded but have not installed as of yet.

For anyone that has updated is all working okay and no problems like the last update that some experienced some issues with.

Thanks,
Ray

Hi Ray, I recently loaded or copied and pasted my site designer into a flash drive. So, I have it on my laptop and on the flash drive running in the laptop. So the latest update was the first time that I've tried to update while running from a flash drive. I seem to have successfully updated both of the apps. Just now checked and the flash drive version I am using has updated and is seeming to be working fine on my latest work on remaking my 25 pg site. I'm having trouble figuring how to get the current projects into both instead of just the flash drive version. If I open the laptop version it has none of the additions since adding the flash drive version. I understand that this problem is not a software problem at least not a SD bug but a how to operate bug of mine. I put on flash drive to get to stop having to deal with changing computers. The current server site was built long ago on desktop and is now in storage and not available so I have had to do everything completely over again and some things are difficult to reproduce.

Be careful!
I had it remove all the images again. That was a Foundation file. And then I was working with a Bootstrap file, and it would not save. I did the same thing three times over, and I dare not open it again to see what I've got now. :o.

But I MAY have found a workaround for the not saving. If you have a file that you started on before you updated, save it with a different name first time you do something in the new version. And stick to the new name until you have completed it. Then you may be able to remove the original file that was started earlier, and let the new file have its proper name. I won't swear by this, I'm still testing.

As to this removing the images, try this:
Before you install the new version, make a nonsensical Foundation file, say a wee bit of blurb and a couple of images (the images are important), save it. Then upgrade, (but keep your previous installation file!), and the first thing you open has to be this nonsense file. It will probably open ok, and then you make some changes, add a bit, subtract a bit, change a class name or two, undo some steps, move the slider up, make a change that you delete because you have to do it within the smallest viewport, etc, etc... Just like you would do with a normal file. Then save it over the previous version. MAYBE you are able to trigger this image removal. To me it seems to affect Foundation, and it seems to happen just once (per version, that is  ). Just as if there would be some registry key saying 'remove images: run once'.
Again, I can't guarantee that this will do the trick, but I'm testing...

Hello GregB, Well good to hear that using flash and all is working sorry about the other problem you are having that as you said is not SD related. I just updated my 1.5 site and now have 47 pages completed, in process of re-checking etc.
Soon I will have to bite the bullet and actually reload to my hosting server but kind of nervous doing that right now. Have to have a clear mind and no distractions.

Oh NO that is not good! Hmmmm losing all images on both updates very frustrating to put it mildly. Well that is why I am waiting to update on main computer just in case. I just downloaded the new update on our desktop computer and will open a backup SD 3.5 file from last week that was almost complete and see what happens. BUT will not update and install on main one until I am sure.

Wonder if Wayan updated and had any problems this time, maybe he will chime in and let us know also.

Hi everybody
not experienced any problems yet except the sporadic
GREY OUT of the save function, which seems to have reared it's ugly head again.

Inger
thats an interesting workaround, BUT ONE WHICH WE SHOULDN't HAVE TO DO, this type of thing just shouldn't happen.

One thing that is beginning to annoy me is the way the canvas jumps up & down when one enters text editor mode. (its that new bottom bar indicator moving out of the way, but I find myself chasing the text that I want to edit sometimes I miss, & therefore text editor closes & everything goes back up so I chase that again & try again. A bit of fun in the beginning, now getting tedious.

No, of course it shouldn't be necessay. But if you are in the middle of something it's better to have some kind of workaround rather than losing everything. I have reported it to Support, hopefully they can figure out what is happening, why it is happening and how they can fix it so that it doesn't happen again.

Ray, I've stopped using things like flash drives and SD cards and moved the work I need to access from multiple places or locations to the Cloud. Currently Microsoft's OneDrive has worked very well for this and I'm guessing Dropbox would, too. If you have a Office365 subscription, you get 1TB of free storage space in the cloud, which so far is more than enough for what I need.

I've been working mostly with Form Designer lately but I opened a file and everything seems fine. It kept everything intact.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

That's good to hear Eric, will load into one computer and see how it reacts. As I wrote earlier will use one of my saved projects from last week not the newest one ....just in case.
