Hi Coffeecup genius' and everyone else...

I downloaded the RSD beta today. Got some very nice themes with it. Particularly the Scroll Portfolio. I am wanting to put together a portfolio myself and was wondering is it possible to use the Scroll Portfolio theme, but alter the graphics in it to present my own work. Is this going to peeve Coffeecup staff and breach some copyright or something?

From a devoted follower....

Hi Scott,

From what I understand the Images used in the Themes are copyright protected and may be used in the original form that its presented in the software. If I were you I would not try to alter them and use them. If anything I would go to a photo stock company and purchase your own images and alter them to fit your needs.

If I am wrong here CC administrators please correct me. I am so careful when it comes to image use as I have been stung by some big photo stock companies with copyright infringement.

Here's the low down on our imagary and iconary :o

A lot of the images are made by our awesome designer Diego. They can be used however you want. Sometimes we buy images or icons, when we do we make sure they can be re-used by our customers. Finally we make use of 'open source / creative commons' images. The come from websites like unsplash.com and can also be freely used. One thing there is that we can't know if some image was uploaded illegally — but we do mention the source and generally 'act in good faith' there.

For this theme in particular most images have been hand crafted here at CoffeeCup. Some of the surrounding elements have a creative commons license, so please go ahead and use them as you desire Scott!
The future of web layout has arrived and it's called CSS Grid. CoffeeCup helps you to get ready with a free guide, the Grid Builder app plus cool demos & themes.

Just a quick note:
When downloading Creative Commons images, always download the license and any documentation showing that you may use the image and store it with the image. If another company comes along and claims infringement, at least you can show the documentation and that you acted in good faith. You should also look to make sure the image can be used commercially. I've found images that are free for personal but not commercial use.

Did you know that Web Form Builder can be used for both simple and complicated forms and that it's not limited to the default fonts and buttons? Take a look at a form we developed for WindowTinting.com.

Thanks all. I am being careful, hence the query. Some horror stories out there. But I guess these theme images have been used for commercial use already with Coffeecup.

And thanks Bod for giving the green light.
