Updating Site from v3.5 to v5...

I have just upgraded to the latest version, and all is not going well. Are there any known issues with updating a website created in version 3.5 to v5? What is happening is when I go to the inspector tab and double click on any of the elements in the tree, the available element sub-pane tab opens, and that's it! I cannot then move to any other tab in the control pane, i.e. clicking on the content, styles tabs etc., does nothing. The only option available to me to gain access to these other control pane tabs is to close and reopen. The program is effectively useless to me with my website designed in v3.5.

Are there any solutions out there without having to start afresh rebuilding from scratch?

There shouldn't really be any problems. If you look into the first URL mentioned in my signature, I have many building blocks built with ver. 3.5 and older, and I'm also running the latest version and build now. You can experiment by downloading some of the building blocks and test how they work in the new SD.

Since I made those building blocks, both Bootstrap, Foundation and Materialize have produced updates to their frameworks, but the only one I have had some issues with is Materialize in a few cases.

Hi
Well now sometimes that happens with me too, more and more recently, it has become a bit of a problem especially when opening older project files but not as old as SDv3.5, I find myself closing site designer and reopening it more and more often, especially after a couple of hours use.
I am seriously considering reverting back to the previous version of SDv5.

Oh and by the way I can't send an error report as I get a message that the cloud services is unavailable

I read your comment about that error message you got and then tried to send something through the support system. Obviously, it worked for me, and I got a reply from Suzanne:

'Strange - we don't give any prompt such as that for "cloud service". Sounds like something on their local machine'.

Whatever the reason I can't send an error report. I will be uninstalling later today and reverting back to earlier version, this is becoming unworkable for me.

Actually Inger the issue I have with the error message is irrelevant to the problems Mr Rooky is having, I only mentioned it as an aside that I couldn't send one.

I am however experiencing the same issues as Mr Rooky, not only in the inspector pane, but actually everywhere ease within the SD working area, once it starts to lagging again.

I decided to try once more, and realised that it appears to be a lagging issue which appears to make the container selection to appear to be not working, in fact on my machine it took a full 2 minutes (which feels like a lifetime) for the container to be selected.
This is on a 50 page website, (a template I am making, which only has 4 actual images (the rest being placeholders, and un-styled (straight our of the box so to speak) headers / paragraphs with dummy text and a few CTA buttons and a menu/footer symbol on each page.

I have the luxury of being able to go back to previous SD5 versions, which Mr Rooky doesn't as he has only just upgraded. I will of course update reverting back actually fixes this SD v5 lagging issue, but perhaps on a different thread, so as to not cloud the problems experienced by Mr Rooky.

I also have been having issues with the latest version freezing up once in a while and sometimes becoming totally unresponsive and I have to force quite the program and restart it to keep working. I've put in a support ticket where I mention these problems and a problem with the screen flickering a bit from time to time as well as the sluggish issue others have mentioned above. I heard back from Suzanne but the techs all seem to be on vacation at this time. I have a new Apple M1 mini with 16GB of internal memory and 512 storage. The program has not been ported to the new M1 processor and is running under Rosetta 2. No other program I use has any of these issues.

Hopefully the next update will cure these issues for everyone.
