Thanks and goodbye for now - Post ID...
Hi everyone.
I only joined the coffeecup software about a year ago. It's an amazing product that really got me hooked on learning something new. I fell in love with Web design. So I started learning as much as I could. I recently finished my first site with sd3 for a client. They are really pleased and it's enabled them to generate much more business.
I recently thought that if I was going to change my career that I would have to do it properly. So after some more learning and lots more learning to come I have decided to build websites from scratch. And one day have my own successful company or be a developer. It's been incredible journey so far and I'm loving it.
So here is my first website built from scratch.
https://www.purpleespresso.com
My journey wouldn't have been possible without the help on this forum and learning through sd3.
So for now it's a thank you and goodbye.
Kind regards Phil

I started programming sites in 1996 when we had to do everything from scratch with Notepad. I continue to take classes to improve my skills. However, even though I can still design from scratch, I continue to use site designer to take care of the design and CDs because it saves so much time.
If your experience is like mine, you will probably learn the skills from scratch and then realize how much time SD3 saves for you as a designer.
It’s great that you have found a new career to pursue. Best of luck in your endeavors!

That said (by you), why on earth would you want to leave? If the forum takes up too much time, do what I do when I'm busy - lurk!

Hi Phil,
So I noticed you are using the Foundation XY Grid advanced layout feature using flexbox. Obviously it offers some additional features not found in regular flex and is more compatible from a browser support standpoint than CSS Grid. Did you find it helpful using XY ?
Obviously CSS Grid allows the layering or overlapping with some ease....does XY Grid offer anything as such ?
Very nice job on the website....you have great design skills !
Bootstrap 5 CSS Grid.

Hi Twinstream. Thank you for your kind words.
I absolutely love using xy grid. Makes things so easy.
Definitely easier as you say to overlap and create really complex mosaic type grids using placement etc with css grid but support still not 100%. For typical layouts xy grid is fab.
The problem I found with sd3 is the layout classes did not display on the elements tree in green. I notified cc and they thought it would be a fantastic addition but not sure it's been implemented yet. Also can be fiddly with containers but far easier like I said then creating many new classes.
Regards

Yes, it would be a great addition to get the Layout classes added to the tree structure display !
Bootstrap 5 CSS Grid.
Phil Dias,
How do you have the menu created, do you have "list containers used or did you just unorderd lists applied. Where did you get that component met or would you be able to share for me. Real handsome website get my inspiration from to with the xy-grid to experiment, but you can also combine it with cssgrid in the Site Designer v3.5
Kind regards
Stephane

Hi Stephane.
The website was built from scratch using atom as a text editor and foundation framework.
The menu is created using the off canvas menu in the foundation docs. I suppose it can be made in sd3 however I did a hell of lot of tweaking to the menu using custom code so not sure it can be replicated exactly.
I would say before tackling the menu try and follow the docs for the xy grid. It is quite easy to implement it into sd3.

That's the biggest downside of CC Software so a great product but not professional as it is is not a full page builder such as elementor, nice page, themler and other.
This page builder have the option of new HTML5/CSS3/JS code to add and adjust that I am missing greatly in the CC products.
I can add value for CC if they way a a custom HTML5/CSS3/JS editor such as the principle of bootstrap studio.
Also ask more users in the event of HTML5 at last all these input elements are included in the Site Designer v3.5.
Also the HTML5 element tables can also be useful. I can make all foundation Building Blocks.
And what really would be a very large added value is that your homemade project where both HTML5/CSS3/JS can import as a component be done.
The menu is not too much in the Site Designer or impossible to design adjustments in the code that you can not by too limited in the CSS3 properties that meet certain components are not attached.
I have watched the videos of the Foundation XY grid much more powerful than CSS Grid and you can super much.
Kind regards
Stephane
