Symbols

When editing a modul from Symbols, this jumps out of the container where it was placed and ending in bottom of the body, this happens on every page that uses the modul. This is annoying, to have to replace this modul (in my case the menu) omg every page.

I have converted my RSD V2 Project to Site Designer V3. :)

Only in Norwegian, sorry.
It behaves quit nice on my iPhone and iPad as well as on my MacBook. :):)
In my opinion, that is.

I am not sure, but I think I found the answer. The container was og type "header". Changed it to "Div"
It is placed inside, on top of a container of type "Main".

Can anyone give me good description of the difference between the types og containers and the difference in practical use?

I'm no expert on such things, but did do some research to satisfy my own similar curiosity

Those knowledgable about such things use the word 'semantic' or 'structural' regarding them. They describe in a standardised* way the nature of what the container holds. Failure to use them does not affect the validation of the HTML coding, but they are are descriptions for browsers and people examining the code.

* This page gives considerable detail of the standard usage, especially in the section entitled 'Enter HTML5 structural elements'.

I did not help to change the container type from "header" to "div".

I have a top container holding a menu container in the bottom and logo picture on top.
This container is marked as a "symbol" so changes I make is automatically updated on every HTML page, using this "symbol". This container, lets call it Head container is on top of a container of type "main". This is the basic container in the "body".
Every time I make som major changes, adding a meny button in the Head container, its automatically been placed at the bottom in the "body" on all the other HTML pages using this symbol. This is very annoying, as I have to edit every page.

Why can't the Head container (symbol) stay on top in the main container ant not move out to the bottom of the main container every time I do some changes to it?

I recreated a basic test layout of your source and then created a symbol for the Header tag which contains the two containers for the picture and the menu links. Yes, I would agree that the symbol function needs to be reviewed as some peculiar results are happening when trying to add another link. I even tried to make only symbols for the picture container and the menu link but those do not seem to be added to the correct container highlighted even when trying to add them. I would open a support request.

I did open a support request today, I think they are working on the problem. :)

Symbols seem to work fine in CSS Grid Builder. I downloaded SD3 updates but still have the same issues.

Hi there Twinstream,

This message is confusing. What issues are you still having. If you are can you please post the exact steps to replicate the issue and we can have a peek.

Thanks

In SD3 when editing a symbol on any page its linked to, once edited you can go to the other pages the symbol is linked on and the symbol container(s) have all jumped up to the first level.

Here is a test project. Try adding another picture (or any element perhaps like a link) to the symbol on a page and then go to another page and you will see the result just as the discussion in the thread indicates.
