Not on any social media, so unfamiliar with them. What are the differences to the "Follow" "Share" aspects of the social icon Facebook? If I add the element social icon and choose Facebook as my choice under the Designer tab, I have the follow and share choices.

Share is a way for users of your site to share any content you choose to link. Follow allows users to get alerts of any content you post to your social accounts.

Don't understand Wayan comment. Also don't understand how I would use these icons on a business website. If a business wanted their website to be linked to their business Facebook page, it wouldn't be done through these social icons, but to an actual link?

A business should link to their social accounts as some people live by them.
