Saving and Exporting - File Structure...

Hello,
I'm new to using RSD and Support Forums but I'll do my best.

I'm having difficulty understanding where to save the RSD project. It seems that when I save the file as RSD where I think it should go and then export the file it want's to put all the files in a sub-directory. When I try and create an images directory where I want all the images the export doesn't comply and put's the images in with the index. When that happens I get some really weird path to the image which includes % spaces or some such instead of /images/whatever.jpg.

When I try changing the image in my current project it would appear that it retains the last image and when I export it seems to just export to another sub-directory instead of overwriting the files in the same directory.

If I can advance forward using the same file structures and images in the same directory it makes for keeping up with what is the current project very frustrating and confusing!!!

Can you get me some since of direction, do I create all the file structure first or insert all the file structure in the program and add the images manually or important the pictures through RSD into the structure that I've created in RSD.

Not sure why this has been setup this way and can't work like the conventional HTML editor has always worked when it came to the files and image paths.

Thanks
Best Regards

I'm having difficulty understanding where to save the RSD project. It seems that when I save the file as RSD where I think it should go and then export the file it want's to put all the files in a sub-directory.

The project file can be stored in any location you like. There is no requirement for it to be in any particular location. When you export your website out of RSD, it will create a folder based on that project name and inside of that all your website files will be placed in there.

When I try and create an images directory where I want all the images the export doesn't comply and put's the images in with the index. When that happens I get some really weird path to the image which includes % spaces or some such instead of /images/whatever.jpg.

You are doing things incorrectly here. You do not add the images to that folder, but instead, you add them inside of RSD itself. If you are finding the images in the root folder, that means in RSD you did not create a folder called images within the Resources, and you linked all the images in into the root folder.

What you need to do is click the Resources toolbar icon and in there you create your folder called "images". Then as you link images into your website, make sure each one is added to the images folder in RSD. You never do any of this outside of the software.

It would look something like this:

Once you do that, when you export your website, the images folder will be created and all the linked images inside of that folder will appear.

Thanks Scott,

Is it possible to add slidebox slider into RSD or would I export my project into HTML and just add it there. Once I add to HTML then I can't go back to the RSD without overwriting my files, is that right?

The rotating images is what I'm after here, don't know if I can build it from scratch is why I was hoping that I could just paste in the code.... http://webflare.net/

Thanks
Appreciate the help

For that you would simply add the code into an HTML Element in RSD. This way there is no need to edit the code after exporting your project. It is all maintained within RSD.

I am about to do this same thing with Responsive Content Slider... I think it is called. So Adam, we just place a container... or element as normal... and actually paste the code into that element??? I have been thinking I would need to open the page / pages in the HTML editor and do that. This would sure be easier. Thanks John for asking this...and Adam, thank you for the help. Dan.

THANKS SCOTT!! I sure like the RSD program. Other than a few little things like this, it has been simple to use and works great. Thanks Again. Dan
