RSD V2 what am I doing wrong? - Post...

Hi All, As a long term user of VSD and Dreamweaver, I decided I would try my hand with RSD, so I currently have the trial version of RSD V2.
I followed the tutorial videos all afternoon (yes I understand they were for an earlier version) and produced (full screen) a very similar page, without downloading the project file, as I wanted to see if I could build it from scratch.
So far so good, it wasn't too difficult to get the basics right.
Feeling very pleased with myself and certain I was going to purchase it, as I could see I could probably get to grips with it fairly quickly, I came to the last part where one looks at it on more narrow screen formats using the slider, with a view to making it look ok there. However, when I slide the slider past the first breakpoint (1024 px) the pictures stack but become 'picture placeholders' ie grey squares with 'Picture' on them and the text looses all its formatting. This is the same in the 'Preview' window
I must be doing something wrong, but I can't for the life of me work out what. I can't believe you have to completely reformat all the text and re-insert pictures at every breakpoint...do you?
Please someone put me right. :/

Thanks in advance

Hi Brian,
RSD 2 is a mobile up grid design. You need to build your site at the smallest size first then alter it to make it look good at bigger screens.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

This is a site I built for my work.(RSD)

This is my personal site used for testing and as an easy way to share photos.(RLM imported to RSD)

It wasn't really you doing something wrong. It was the change between the version for which the instruction was made, and the new version of RSD. Now you have to start building for mobile-size screens and make your design wider as you move the breakpoint slider to the right.
But you may perhaps fix it without starting over:
Go right down past the smallest breakpoint and insert your images there, then they should follow you up to the wide viewport that you had to begin with. You might also want to make adjustments to other page elements, like e.g. the heading a bit smaller.

Part of the clue is when you open the project it always opens at just below the first breakpoint (mobile first)

If it opens at the highest point then that means it is desktop down

Ok thank you, I hadn't realised that was significant in a blank new project, I just assumed you just made it desktop size and started.............I'll get there.

I loved the older version having the flexibity to start where I wanted with a desktop or mobile. 100% of the work that I am requested to do starts with a desktop version, so working down is the obvious workflow.

I understand that RSD has now changed direction, but hey, I purchased the product because it did exactly what I wanted, now I am stuck with a boat that won't float :(

Stuart, If you don't have RSD1.5 any more, here is what you can do:
Download a trial version of Responsive layout maker (RLM). Open it, and the default setup you see consists of two rows, one fully spanned and the other split in a couple of columns. Never mind that. Just save this default setup to your desktop. Then afterwards, you can forget RLM (unless you want to keep it), and then open the saved file in RSD. Before changing anything, save it as a theme by a name of your choice.
Now you have a coffeegrinder theme, desktop down, that you can use if you really want to stick to the desktop down approach. You will not be able to use any of the built-in components as they are for Bootstrap or Foundation, but you can make your own components and save them for reuse.
Ha en riktig god dag!
