I am new to Responsive Site Designer (RSD) and I am methodically reviewing the help topics including the videos to learn all nuances about the product before I start creating my large website.

I am familiar with the concepts of other development products such as WordPress, and I do not find any help topics that describe how to connect to a MySQL database (or any other DB) in RSD anywhere within the documentation.

Are there any tools included with RSD such as API calls that exist in RSD to handle much of the connectivity and display of database data that I have been unable to find in the RSD documentation, or must all of the code be created in HTML or PHP or maybe even JavaScript? I don't see any tools in the 4 sections of the RSD window. Where are the interfaces to the database identified in the RSD main window - under Resources?

What am I missing?

Hi Robert,
Any scripts that your site will need will have to be added by you. If you google the type of script you need there should be plenty of choices to fit it. I have helped a few users with JQuery scripts but those are typically used in the form builder. As far as how to include your script in your page you may want to try an iframe first for live previewing and testing.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

One of the greatest things RSD has going for it is the ease in which you can add your own interactivity and back end interfacing without destroying your layout.

Eric is of course right: you'll need to handle scripting yourself but there are several ways you can add it to your site:

1) Ajax calls. This can be added directly through the RSD interface. Add jQuery and it becomes even simpler.

2) After design. RSD outputs perfectly formed, very readable HTML. Just export, rename the file extension and code in PHP, ASP, Perl, whatever.

3) IFrames. I wouldn't recommend this myself, but the option remains open to you.

Hi Fellas,
I know very little about scripting, API integration and such. I am
working on a project that requires me to incorporate an API Key
and other code into an RSD website. I really don't understand what to do.
Can you help me with understanding this.

If it's okay/necessary, I'd really like to talk on the phone about this.

Thanks,
Kevin

Are you using S-Drive. If so you won't be able use it. If not have you trie pasting the code on the resource into a page and testing it?
