I think that this is a related problem if I may...
I am trying to change the name of a folder in my resources. The folder was exported from RCS it was named free-bid in the RCS and when exported RCS adds the name free-bid_exported. I am thinking that the software added the exported to the name maybe I did I do not really remember. In my RSd resources I would like to change the name of the folder to free-bid-example. I have been trying to change the name in the resources and then put that changed name into the Href link for the button link design settings. It is not finding the link then, when I change back and publish it goes back to working. Is this because it is not being changed in the export folder?
How can I edit the folder names in existing resources folders?

In RSD's Resources box a folder can be renamed by first double-clicking on the folder name shown in the Resources box.

Step 3 of the instructions for RCS Export For Embedding makes clear that the intention is not to put the export folder itself (xxx_exported) onto the Web (or into RSD), but to put the contents of that folder in the same folder as the webpage in which the slider is to appear. That works, though it does mean adding each of the folders individually in the Resources box. I am not sure whether trying to achieve the same effect via adjustment of href links is less hassle.

I am checking to see if I now have a correct understanding of the process. So I want the name of the folder to be free-bid-example instead of free-bid_exported. Open resources in RSD and double-click on the folder and edit the name to desired new name for the folder then click "OK" in lower rt side of window for resources window. Then publish, then after opening the site and refreshing the pg. it should open up to the link (Free Estimate button link) for the http://www.workhorsepainting.com/free-b … index.html . That is changing the folder name and not changing the Href link?
When I open the live pg and rt click on it and view source, the name of the html file will then be view-source: http://www.workhorsepainting.com/free-b … index.html , even though the application Href listing has it linking to the old folder name (free-bid_exported/index.html)? This would all be because the contents of the folder have not been changed just the folder name?

The question was "How can I edit the folder names in existing resources folders?" If there is some doubt about one's understanding of the procedure for doing this, and about the outcome, one can easily test it by -

1a. creating a completely new RSD file,
1b. saving it and exporting it to a hard drive,
1c. examining in Windows Explorer (or in the Mac equivalent) the folder called 'socialicons';
2. Going through the procedure for changing the folder name in the RSD Resources box from 'socialicons' to 'newname', and repeating 1b and 1c above.
It will be seen that the folder has been renamed and the files in that folder are unchanged.

Please see item C of my answer to Karen for why the old socialicons folder will still be there in addition to the renamed one.

I find that learning RSD is helped considerably by experimentation like the above, and then afterwards applying what one so learns to one's website. Diving straight into doing on one's website something about which one is uncertain seems unwise. That is why I have answered as above, but it does seem to me from GregB's last post that his understanding of the situation is correct.

Hi Frank,
It's actually quite simple to accomplish directly within RSD.
1.Click the "Resources" icon at the top of the design panel.
2. Double click the folder you want to change in the directory tree listed on the left hand side.
3. Edit the name.
4. Hit enter.

For me if I change the socialicons folder name it is reflected in the exported files and there's no other socialicons folder added.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Hi Eric.

Yes indeed. I mentioned the double-clicking solution for GregB at the beginning of my post yesterday.

My mention of the remaining socialicons folder is because of the previous export before changing the folder name (1b of my post above). RSD, of course, doesn't overwrite that when exporting to the hard drive. You're absolutely right that, if one changed the name of the folder before that first export, the socialicons folder wouldn't appear in addition to the renamed folder.

Thanks for your tremendous work in these forums. I trust that you and yours will have a joyous Christmas and a good new year.

Regards,
Frank
