Pop Up or Modal? - Page 1

I'm using Foundation and am wondering about a pop up or a modal for a home page.

This will be for a sporting goods store that mainly deals in firearms.

This will be used to promote summer specials so I have plenty of time to get either tested and see what the owner likes or wants.

I would like suggestions about both from anyone who has done something like this. I looked at the modals in Materialize but I'm not sure if that's what would look good.

Thanks for any suggestions and pointers.

BTW, we are getting ready for a hurricane which looks like we're going to get smacked square in the face like we did with Irma a couple of years ago. So I may not get back in here until next week sometime.

Yes, please Inger. I am also very interested in a modal. A modal that opens automatically when someone opens the homepage (landing page) of my website.

People on holiday with only a smartphone hardly read a website. In the modal I want to briefly report things that are important that are on other pages on the website. Things like that you can only come with a tent or a tent trailer. That the campsite is not suitable for campers and caravans due to the location of the campsite. And when the campsite is full.

Inger has a Modal for bootstrap on her sharing page but I make my website in foundation.

If someone has a different, more simple solution that is also more or less neat to see, please let me know.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Robert, by the sounds of it, what you need is not a modal, but a landing page specially made for mobile devices. And maybe with more info for larger screens. I haven't got anything like that ready made, but I could try making a mockup for one. Gimme a day or three, as I have a lot of other things on my plate right now...

What you need is a "Call Out" which covers most of the page that contains the information,, they then close the call out and then can continue to browse.
I have a call out example component if you would like to try, see if it works for how you want it.

Wayan,

I think that may be better than a pop up or modal. I've never used a callout so can it be configured to close and go to another page?

I just haven't had time to research that yet with this hurricane strolling by Florida. We were in the bullseye but now may have dodged a big bullet.
