Any time frame when this will be increased?

I have been told that pages that are mot in the root of the site do not rank as well as root pages - any feedback on that? At this point I have been making subsites that are eseentially free standing sites on their own

Version 2.2 now has support for up to 125 pages.


Location of the page really has nothing to do with ranking. Content is what your site is most ranked by.

I have been working on a site for an upholstery company for a couple of years. They have a new shop on the launching pad now, and the shop software is provided by the ISP. It is based on all pages being in the root.

Then they have engaged a 'SEO expert' who wanted the pages to be put into folders, but that wasn't possible to do within the software system, so I have had to create 'virtual' folders through the URI system, with a zillion of redirects. The path to each page is now about 'a mile long', then both the folder names and page names had to consist of nearly all the keywords of the pages too.

I really don't know if that virtual folder system is the best way to go, I find it a tad strange. I would very much like to hear what other SEO savvy people here would say to that.

Problem is that you're not able to dynamically link to your (internal) site pages. As soon as Coffeecup has figured that one out (which shouldn't be too difficult, Freeway has this even since version 1 back in 1998), they even might throw in another major upgrade to its functionality and even support multi-level site structures ... that way, internal links won't break when moving site pages around from one level to another. Again, apart from the stunning functionality RSD already offers, a lot (!) of really basic functionality still lacks. Functionalities that -for me- disqualifies RSD for large projects I can simply do with Softpress' Freeway. Even a decade ago I created websites with over a 1000 pages with Freeway 5. I can manage Media outside the project simply because resources are linked, and every single update to any resource automatically will prompt me to update my resources. Even moving resources from one place to another won't break the links to those resources -for as long as I do this with the document opened- ... it's this basic functionality, as is common for professionals like InDesign and XPress users. Adding this functionality definitely will pay off.
