I must have done something wrong when I was adding additional list item containers in the orbit component. The button count at the bottom of the orbit did not increase to reflect the added images. So I went and duplicated buttons.

Also when I preview the orbit does not seem to function properly (even before any list item containers were added).

If you duplicate the list item container (which is the easiest way to add more images) then the count remains the same, all you have to do is add a second class name to the image (something like No5 for example),, (sorry I should have mentioned that before)then change the image out.

Without being able to see your project then can't help why it isn't previewing properly
There is a video on my tutorials web-site about adding images & additional sliders (more than the 4 that come as standard) if you would like to look at it

Actually Randy to be perfectly honest what I would do if I was you .... next to the duplicate button which you have used already is an icon X = delete ------- select the container for the orbit and HIT THAT X and delete the whole thing :D orbit is no longer supported by Coffee Cup Team and Foundation,, it isn't very good,, and there are better ones available for free (some better than others,, that work better and have more functionality) you just need to do the slider in html however you want it then insert the html code into an html element (RSD) wherever you want it to appear on your page.

Seriously though,, If you wish to persevere with Orbit then take a look at the video,, put your project file into something like dropbox, and share the link so that we can take a look at what's happening for you.
