Yes, I know you haven't. Just thought someone might have experienced something similar and have a direction in which I might start to determine the problem.
Not critical. My megamenu works; it is patterned after the one that came in the Materialize Theme "Bob" of CC created of collections of stuff.

The problem with that mega menu component is on devices that obviously don't have a "hover" function (Mobile devices/touch screens etc) the button to trigger the mega menu opening/closing, obviously doesn't work.
to fix the height problem is just a matter of setting the dropdown container thingy height property to whatever you wish it to be, then adjusting the mega dropdown margin(top) accordingly

I am struggling with a solution for this at the moment, I have the button now opening/closing the mega menu on click, but for some reason, it needs to be clicked on twice before it opens for the first time.

UPDATE
I got it to work on click for mobile devices) still working on getting it to work on larger widths

check it out on a mobile device to see it in action

The Mega menu in Bob's Matco template was the one I used as a base for the one I made and gave the link to in my first post in this discussion.

OPPS sorry, Inger I was referring to the original Mega Menu downloaded from CC components, not your component
that's the one that doesn't work properly on mobile devices, also in the splurge about it from CC they mention it's available in all frameworks,, and all one has to do is unzip the download and choose the framework, that actually doesn't happen, the file is not zipped and the only framework it uses once downloaded is materialize. not a big problem for me but anyone else wanting to download it for the other frameworks might not be too happy that it actually isn't available in all frameworks as they say.

Don't worry, Wayan. ;) I understood which menu you were referring to. My post was actually a reply to Dick, who said he had been using Bob's menu as a base for his own menu.

I haven't checked that CC mega menu for all frameworks, I only installed the one for Materialize now to see how it works. Maybe I ought to check the other versions then...

BTW Wayan, I had a quick look at the menu you are working on, to change the hover to onclick, and that strange thing about having to click twice on the dropdown to get it working. I haven't checked or looked very closely, but I thought perhaps that you may need to remove some of the typical materialize classes. They may perhaps have some js built into them, and then there might be a conflict between hover and onclick which causes the issue. I may be wrong though...

I didn't want to mess with class names as I wondered about that, but I added a unique ID to the containers (and changed existing ones, just in case so the code/scripts, etc all are set to work on the ID, not a class which should take prescience over CSS or Scripts built-in,

Nothing to add here other than Thank you, to Inger and Wayan for your amazing willingness to help and support the community at large.
I'm learning a lot from all of this.
Now, whether or not I can actually make something constructive is another story.

Thank you all again.
