Login for component saving or loading...

Maybe I missed something, but I'm wondering why we need to login with our CC ID when saving to (or loading from) the components library.
I have read Inger's explanation on how to do it, but nothing about the why.
Moreover, it means that I have to maintain an active internet connection while working with a local app (SD V3) on my MacBook. This is quite annoying.

Any one?

Don't know how Macs work, but once a component has been added, on my pc I don't need to be logged into CC any more or the internet connection to be active to work on any SDv3.5 project

I assume that the why is because that's where your library thingy is stored not locally, as to the why for that you would need to ask the CC team

My internet connection is active all the time anyway, otherwise I would,t be able to receive & see Emails when they arrive, or notifications of postings on CC I am subscribed to when a new post is made, so as far as having an active internet connection always active is no problem for me

Actually, if you think about it, any component that you have made yourself has to be stored somewhere within the CC system,(if you want to save it within the components section that is) if it was stored as part of the application, they would have to have thousands of individual applications for everyone who has made their own components.

I don't know anything about the WHY. I set my machine to flight mode to test this. The components and themes I have saved, are obviously stored on my system. Not long ago I changed the mail address I'm using for CC, and components I made before that I have to be logged in to access, even though they are here on my machine. Also if I have components or projects created by someone else. And in flight mode of course I can't log in anywhere. But things I have created and saved after I changed my user details, can be accessed without any problem.

I cannot imagine that those user made components are stored on a Coffeecup server; on the other hand I cannot find them on my machine at the usual places where other apps store their user related data.

Every time when I start a new project and I want to load my own handmade components from the component library, SD V3 requires me to login with my CoffeeCup ID. If you Windows boys only need to do this once, it may have something to do with permissions in OSX. I will ask CoffeeCup support about this.

Hennie, I have the same "issue" and I'm using Windows. I always have to login before I can use my own components. And I don't understand why that's necessary.
The other day I suggested CC to change that behaviour in a next release. The more people with the same wish, the better the chance it will be changed in the near future.

Hi all.
Just to say I use SD3 on Mac Mojave and on Window10 and I never need to reconnect before using components.
I do that long time ago, so I think that not a pc prob or a SD3 prob.
Maybe a user prob ? Sorry…

Agree and not really a big issue to stay logged on in the greater scheme of things
