My Save button is greyed out most times i want to save, so i have been doing a Save As and overwriting, then Exporting and deleting the previous version.
Now on Save As my entire Layout Pane greys out - it goes through the save motions but none of the changes actually save.
Anyone come across anything similar? I have RSD 2

I had a similar problem of File > Save getting greyed out in December 2017. It turned out not to be the program itself, but corruption in my RSD project file.

One could test whether it is such corruption in the RSD project file by starting a new file, changing a few things and then trying to save it. If there's no problem with the new file, then the problem may be the same as mine was.

The good news is that by my explaining what was happening and submitting the RSD project file to My Support Room, the CoffeeCup team were able to fix it.
