Hi Everybody
As previously mentioned I have been doing that stroke thingy some tome now using custom css (which also sort of worked for IE.

Have been playing around and have done something which now just uses Site Designer (the new stroke thingy, and some settings/styling for IE) It does involve a bit more work but then again it can look pretty passable on IE if you consider that important for visitors.

Add a background color and drop shadow with some blur and it looks great.
