Further to my post above, my tests suggest that uploading just the latest css/main.css file from the exported RSD file would fix the picture size situation in the web page shown in the first post in this thread.

The issue is resolved!

I don't know how I could have been so stupid as to not keep uploading the updated CSS folder each time I tried a fix for the webpages. Thanks to all for providing suggestions and especially Frank who figured it out.

Thanks for sharing that, might save someone else a few hours' worth frustration.

The display table and table-cell are taking precedence over the responsive image. Tables fit their content then the img-responsive will fill the new width.
