How to do a "sign up for my...

Hi!

I'm trying to help my friend out and make a little floating popup on her website appear with this "subscribe to my newsletter" bit containing this code that I got from Substack:
<iframe src="https://kaileyfrycoaching.substack.com/embed" width="480" height="150" style="border:1px solid #EEE; background:white;" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

I don't really know how I would do that exactly. I know there is probably some sort of element or component or whatever that would be best for that, but that's about all I know.

I would attach the .rsd file so you can see what the site looks like without it, but when I tried to do that it wouldn't post for some reason.

Hi Tyler
First of all posting the Site Designer .rsd file you would need to Zip it , then it should upload to this forum, but be aware this is an open forum, and there are some that are trial users) so do so with caution if the project file has any sensitive inform,
Secondly, which "Framework are you using to create the website
"Bootstrap"?" Frameworkless"? "Foundation"? "Materialize"?

The popup can be added to your website page in a couple of ways, how it actually does that depends on the framework you are using, and again you could do some custom code, but quiche to use a "Component in site designer.

I can do a step-by-step video if you want, or you can send me the .rsd file to my Email, using WeTransfer (Free and secure)

And of course the other consideration (depending on the website etc etc, is that "Subscribe" thingies are one of the most common ways hackers and spammers use to do those naughty things they do (although having something like that in an iframe can help stop some of them, but it could be as potential risk, as I said depending on the nature and function of a website.

Do you want the POPUP to appear automatically when a page is loaded? or triggered by a button/text link?

Do you want the POPup to appear EVERYTIME that page is opened, for the same visitor? if they open that page
again during the session or only open if its a new visitor?

If someone has already subscribed then to display the popup again isn't such a good user experience.

Thanks for your response!

I'm just trying to have a sort of popup(popover?) "Sign up for my newsletter" area that shows up on the main page of this site. They're pretty common, but for an example of something similar, you can see what shows up when you scroll down a little bit on https://www.stepintopossible.com/

I don't really remember what framework this is made with, since it's based off one of the templates that came with Site Builder.

I would prefer that it pops up either right away, or after someone scrolls down on the page a little bit. I'm not exactly sure what is the best way of triggering it, but whatever makes it visible without being too annoying to the visitor would be great. I don't think that it should pop up for the same visitor in the same session, as they would likely have already decided to either sign up for the newsletter or not, so I agree that bugging them again would just be kind of rude.

I tried attaching the zip but it gave me the same error. I uploaded it to WeTransfer like you suggested though, and the link is https://we.tl/t-DTeaVXs8bv

Thank you so much!

Here is a link to Ingers POPUP thingy, using "Frameworkless,
https://mock-up.coffeecup.com/va-comps/va-alert.html
download it then add it to your project from the components tab, and then add it on the page you want it to appear.

Here is a link to a silent movie showing Ingers POPUP on the first page,
just a demo, to show it can be achieved, it needs some custom code to delay it loading, and to make it only appear one per session, the code for the subscribe form is embedded in an Iframe.

You could also make your own simple form using site designer, and more secure against those auto spamming or nasty robots

Personally I can't stand those popup thingies appearing at anytime, much prefer to make the choice when I want (if I want)
In fact I set all my browsers to block ALL POPUPS (as do many others nowadays) by default

The only time I advise my clients to have one is when the visitor can take advantage of some sort of special offer (usually a time limited one),

As a final thought, you could always put it in the footer of every page on the website (always visible) that way the visitor can complete the form IF and whenever they feel they would like to subscreibe.
