Chastise me if I'm thick, but I have called the root page Home and written index.html, but it does not work.
Always works in previous websites I have created?
Is there some quirk that Site Designer has?
Can someone point out the error of my ways?
I'm new to Site Designer.

In SD the first page you create in a new project is automatically called index (not index.html). You will see that if you open Pages - Manage project.
When you add a menu to your project, you can write Home and link your index page to that menu item, then as index.html. Does that help?

Only name it index, not index.html . SD will add the .html
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Hi guys
What am I doing wrong, for I had tried that but I get page not found when I preview it?
I have tried setting the Target to Self, Parent, Top and even blank, with and without Encoding.
I was just remembering that the original index page I deleted and created a new page called Home.
Is this the reason that it does not work?
If so what is the best way to rectify?

It is always better to actually see the problem, so could you zip up your project and post it here? I mean, we need to see the actual .rsd file. If it is too large to post as an attachment, pop it into a dropbox or similar and let us have a link.

Hi Rocky,

Here it's on its way back: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nmwqr2m35jus7 … r.zip?dl=0

You had done the exact opposite of what I told you initially. Check the file manager, the index page is called just 'Index' there. In the menu, you have to use 'index.html', without the # that you find in the Link box before you start writing. The # is put in there by default, to make a menu item look like a link (colour-wise). Mind you, the Contact section on the index page is a bit different. On the index page itself, the # has to remain, and you just add the ID of the contact section, like this "#contact". On the other pages, you need to say which page that contact section is on, so there you write "index.html#contact". It doesn't matter if you write "index.html#contact" on the index page too.
Please let me know when you have got the file, so that I know when I can remove it from my dropbox.
Good luck!

Hi again, Rocky,

One thing that I forgot: You said you wanted to call your index page 'Home'. Open the page manager again, and where it says 'Title', remove the name of the template you have used (Black Forest), and write 'Home' there instead.
