So if I have a button type of a certain type and class, and I decide to change the typeface of that class, can a later reverse the process and make the button revert back to the typeface of it's type and then automatically change if I change the type's charactreistics.

I think that some preamble is needed before my attempted answer.

Font styling on buttons can be in any of the following ways -
(a) by setting in Text Edit Mode after selecting the text to be styled;
(b) by setting for ID;
(c) by setting for Class;
(d) by setting for Type.
Each of the settings in the above list will override all the settings lower down in the list. The question seems tricky to answer unless that is borne in mind: it is especially easy to forget that an (a) setting has been made, and then thinking that the other font settings are somehow failing to work.

Subject to the above, I think the answer is 'Yes' if one is willing for ALL that Class's styling to revert to the Type styling. One would use the Reset button for that Class. That button has a circular arrow and is at the end of the State row.

It will be seen from the above that, to achieve what was requested, it would be necessary for the settings of that Class to be exclusively the font settings.

If the question is raised because of a need that has arisen in the middle of a project's development, I would strongly recommend trying out what is wanted in a new test project. Experimenting in the main project with Classes and Types runs the risk of having unexpected effects on other parts of the project sharing those Classes or Types.
