How do I get the code to show in the inspector panel? I'm working through the nested menu activity, but can see the code to figure out what I did wrong.

Just select the element you want to inspect and the css will show below.

That is just a overlay showing the relationship between an "html code example" and the inspector element structure. The only way to see the html is to preview in a browser and use inspect.

So I'm stuck. It works correctly on the full screen, but not on medium or small.

Because at those lower levels there is no css stying applied
You should be working from just to the left of the LOWEST breakpoint UPWARDS to apply styling
If you check the top column & the container etc it shows the css panel at lower breakpoints
set one of the list item containers (containing the menu links) position flex = row at the lowest breakpoint (just to le left) ant it will show the css code in the panel panel

You don't need the css code to show where you went wrong,,,, you just need look in the inspector panel
from there you can see that you have a list container holding another list container, that holds a ul link and many other list items
