I'm late to the party here, but could you please let me know exactly which components, and in which framework you were having this trouble with? I'm most keen on which components were given a 100vh min-height.

I am using the neutral components in materialize framework. On of the hero sections is giving me a head ache too as it had 100vh for the full video background, which I don't need for smaller screens.

You can set it to any height you require and adjust the height at any breakpont you desire
