No matter what I do Control+T will not put me into edit text mode. I know I can triple-click or right click to select from the pop-out menu. But it would be really nice for Control+T to work.

You would be correct sir. It appears we have a duplicate shortcut being used. We will see this is fixed in the next release, thanks for pointing it out.
