Hi! Just wanted to confirm what the cleaning code and history stack logo meant. I saw it a couple of days ago when working and it took over 20 minutes to correct; what is it for? Thanks!

Zoë, where did you find the 'cleaning code and history stack logo' in Site Designer? I don't seem able to find it. I only know there is a code cleaning tool in the HTML Editor.

Actually Inger it's not a logo as such more asking to a notification, it appears more often when there are a lot of pages or the pages are getting quite big (hence the cleaning up of code) I have had it a couple of times only in the past 13 years and always when the project file start's to get big, it helps reduce the HTML code CSS and JS code too because inevitably the codes get a few errors or perhaps need twerking etc, I believe that under normal circumstances (don't ask me what normal means) this is done as part of the exporting process so generally it's not normally seen. I have seen it once or twice whilst still working on a project and when it does appear in that situation one cannot do anything with site designer until it has stopped.

Another factor as to when this might occur is the "Auto Back Up" function, I really don't know the maximum time one can set this to, but I assume that the longer the periods between "Auto Backups" would increase the amount of time the cleaning code function thingy would take because if there had been a lot of changes to the project then that's going to be an awful lot of checking.

There could also be an issue with the PC memory, I once had an issue similar (nowhere near as long as 20 mins) when I checked Task Manager, there was something (I forget what) which was eating up the memory (and it wasn't Site Designer).

Thanks, Wayan. I have never seen that error message, even though I have had big sites (as in more than 120 pages) in production several times.

Hi Inger
I personally wouldn't really class that as an error message, and I didn't even worry about it on the couple of occasions that it has happened with one or two of my projects, In fact I was quite happy to know that the Team at CoffeeCup had built in a feature that was capable of doing such a thing ( although I also double check every project for HTML CSS and JS errors as a matter of service to all my clients, to ensure that they get a project that is as close error free as I can do. (not exactly an expert of JS, but I can get pretty close to validation for error free code.
