Best practice for moving containers

I spend a lot of time trying to move containers around within another container. Is there an easy way to move the order of subcontainers around in a container?

I'm also struggling to move a container into another container that has other containers. For instance, let's say I have a main container with one subcontainer in it. I want to move a different container into the main container. What is the easiest way to do this so that it doesn't end up in the subcontainer?

Thanks!

Move the new container so that you place it above the existent subcontainers. Afterwards you can rearrange the sequence of the subcontainers.

I find it easy to move things around using the "Elements' tab using drag & drop (if you want to call it that)mind you there are others here that seem to find that difficult too.

it's really just a matter of looking at the grey/white underline that appears when you select the container you want to move when it gets to wherever you want to move it, just let go

As for placing a container within a container,

I have another way too

So say I have a container, and want to put another container within that container
I place a paragraph within the parent container (temporary) and then select the paragraph, then add the second container, which then goes into the parent container not outside of it, I then delete the paragraph(unless I intend to use it of course)

This sounds more complicated than it actually is and once you get used to doing it then it is really easy & straight forward.

I believe that some people have mentioned the difficulties to the CC team, but not yet has a better solution implemnted.

If you would like to see what I do in action & if it might help I can make a video showing how I do it, it might help you in the meantime

To move the order of subcontainers around in container (Y)
I usually do it in the Elements Tree as explained by Wayan. If, however, container (Y) has a Grid or Flex layout, and the subcontainers each have an id (or they all have different class names), moving them is, of course, not necessary: one can set the order in which the subcontainers appear by giving each one an appropriate order number (near the bottom of the 'Grid and Flexbox Layout' section of the Layout tab).

To move container (X) into another container (Y) that has subcontainers, without it going into one of the subcontainers
Again I usually do it in the Elemnents Tree as explained by Wayan, initially placing it immediately above the first subcontainer (as Inger mentioned), and then changing the order of the subcontainers if necessary.

It's sometimes worth remembering how simple, quick and useful the Components section of the Content tab can be. For example, if screen resolution or mouse difficulties make the previous paragraph difficult to do, one can quickly create a component from container (X), select container (Y) and put the newly created component into it (using the + icon), and delete the original container (X).

I stumbled upon this by quite accident, but have found if I create a container outside of a main container that has multiple nested containers and want to place it at the bottom of the nested containers or even within one of the nested containers, I click and drag the created container to the top of the parent container first , and then without letting go drag it down to the position at the bottom or even onto the middle of one of the nested containers if it should go inside.

It seems dragging the container to the top of the target parent and then down has some added control over where you want your container to go ?
