Hi,

After a couple of years of ignoring my website, I think it is time to get back to the drawing board...
First, I am wondering whether it is imperative to upgrade my SD 5/3479 to the newest version? I can see we are still on V5...
Next, what is nowadays the best framework? I used to use Foundation before.

Finally, I am looking for a good and timely template to design a personal portfolio website. Any recommendations for a good design?

Regards
Berthold

Personally I prefer foundation purely for the versatility, but nowadays many prefer frameworkless desktop down, and most templates on CC are made using frameworkless.
Nevertheless the usual help and advice from this forum is still active whatever framework, but most of us do have the latest version of SD so any assistance with older versions maybe limited

I second that. I love working with Foundation, it took me a while to figure it out but I also agree with Wayan on this. There is lots of videos and support here and on YouTube when it comes to that framework. If you ever run into issues just ask away and we will help.

Foundation for me also. Just got use to it's components and styling. It's built in js scripts are also great.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Thanks for all your comments! I am happy to hear that foundation is still the framework of choice. Since I am already familiar with it, I'll use it again for my new website.
I'll also upgrade my current SD license to the newest version.
I trust SD is still being developed, as the latest update seems to have happened quite some time ago.
Thanks again for your help.
Kind regards

Hi again,
I have been looking through the template section to find a good one for my portfolio page. The templates that would suit my purpose are frameworkless. However, I would like to use Foundation. Can a frameworkless template be adapted to Foundation?

Kind regards

Which template is it you have seen .
It maybe possible with some fiddling about, but it depends on the layout and how it has been built

That template is quite nice for its clean design, but would also need a lot of modifications for me to work. I am wondering whether it is easier to start from scratch.

Another nice one is Kobe https://themes.coffeecup.com/kobe.html. That one is already a foundation template and could be used straight away for a multi-profession portfolio.

Ok a quick look

The frameworkless one Kerning College is fairly simple as far as layout is concerned but with it being 'frameworkless' it has quite a bit of custom code involved, which in the end in my opinion would be qiucker and easier to replicate within Foundation from scratch, and also doing it that way of course (with a little bit of help wehenever necessary) would help you learn and gain more on how to use Site Designer and telling it what you want it to do for you.

The Kobe foundation one is as you mentioned already foundation framework (I don't have that template and it's a paid one so not goimg to download it, but looking at the live preview, it seems pretty straightforwards and should be pretty easy to adapt, however sometimes readymade templates still require some in depth knowledge of using site designer (for instance some elements may need adjusting to your content, requirements, which is possible but may also need some help and assistance to get them adjusted

So either way, I would have to say,

1/ Kerning colledge,, not really suitable for converting to foundation, because it would be easier and quicker to build that from scratch in foundation (with a little bit of help) but also fairly easy to adapt and keep it as a frameworkless project

2/ Kobe, ready made for foundation should be easier to adapt to your idea, BUT would still possible require some help) which may in the end also be better to replicate from scratch.

So it's really either or (personally I would do it from scratch, but then I have some knowledge and experience using Site Designer.)

You will of course get plenty of help and assistance from users here on this forum.
