Hi Greg.

While the Body element is selected I would try switching to the Styles panel, going to Reset (in the Apply Styles section), and choosing All Styles (immediately below the words 'All Breakpoints').

I retried sliding the opacity and could see it changing on the canvas so my earlier report on that issue was incorrect, thank Frank again for his reply. I right clicked on the canvas on the app and went to select and selected the body, so the whole body was selected. Seems to be hung up on the whole body being selected, I can not deselect the whole body if I go to the inspector can not seem to select anything else but if I select something on the app canvas like edit picture that selection seems to go while the previous body selection stays, so it is not clearing out. This is telling me that the app is not working correctly in as it is hung up on the body select which is yielding that translucent blue on the whole body of the app canvas. I guess that it is now figuring out how to release the body select that it is hung up on. Usually hung up does not allow any further action because of being hung up, this is a hang up that does not hang up, if that makes any sense.

You need also check if the styles apply to "All Elements" (a red side border indicates this) or to the elements ID (a Yellow side Border indicates this), or a class name (if there are multiple class names, then the styling is usually applied to the last class nae, but it also maybe that an additional class name was added after the blue thingy, so you may need to disable the last class name, not delete it just disable it,

I sent Inger the project SD file and she found it quickly

Hi again,

The solution is simple: click on the Guides button in SD and un-select the 'X-Ray Mode*. I found it within 2 minutes.

Regards,
Inger
I think this was a glitch that happened during the security software rendering the op system useless to force a restart to protect it and this happened during one of those episodes, I had never myself made any guides mode entries all of the while I was using the SD. This would be the last thing that I would look at.
Thank you Inger for saving me hours and hours of troubleshooting, thank you very much.
Does my description of the problem make more sense now that you have actually seen it Inger?

I'm glad we got there. I never use that X-Ray thingie now, but I did sometimes when I was fairly new to SD. I have never seen it being activated in any way other than by my clicking on it.

I use that quite often (especially at smaller widths) as very often there is an overflow scroll bar, usually caused by a hyperlink text thingy, in a paragraph (for example) at those widths, its a great feature for quickly finding the culprit. but as Inger says I have never experienced that being activated without selecting it.

A useful point to remember, it's likely to solve some issues far quicker by sending the project file to someone so they can take a peekaboo, rather than guesswork (even a screenshot sometimes doesn't point the way)
