I'm setting up a shop that will include the sale of gift cards in various denominations. Rather than having a separate item for each denomination -- say $5, $10, $15, $20, etc -- it would be great if the user could specify the amount he'd like on the card.

Is it possible to do this in SCC or in the upcoming Pro version?

It can't be done in the present SCC not sure about the new Pro version.

You could do it using a Paypal Donation Button. I know the customer can enter their own amount there. Not sure if Paypal offers other options that give the customer an amount option or not.

Price variants for the product options was high on the request list for the pro version, so be sure to check out the feature lists when Scott publishes them on these forums.

There will be no ability for the customer to directly specify a value (essentially the item price) within the pro version, as such a facility would have the potential to introduce a security vulnerabilty. That type of vulnerability would apply to all types of shopping cart, not just cart creator.
