Adding membership number

Hi

I have an interesting situation. I have set up a small shopping cart for a natural history society www.tongariro.org.nz with items available at different prices for members and non members.

To avoid non members taking advantage of the members special pricing is there a way that members can enter their membership number when they order. I dont think the sales are that great that we need database checking and confirmation of the number but it may help those administering the shop to weed out the non members - its a bit of bluff really!:) However it may work.

Thanks

Dave

I don't think so at this point but you could set up a duplicate shop with the discount, and put a password on the member one.

If its a percentage discount it would be quite simple. Just open your shop and save a copy under a different name and then add the discount to each item.

At this point you need to do discount each item separately but doing a global discount hopefully is something possible down the track.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.

Thanks Tassie

I think I'll make a duplicate shopping cart and password it with Web Access Manager I bought while trying to find an Easter EGG!!!

Thanks for the advice!

hehe good use of the WAM program for sure. Plus if you give each person a personal ID and PW you can easily weed out those you don't want to have access to singly without affecting everyone else (in other words if too many outsiders get ahold of the ID/PW and start abusing it you won't have to be changing the password for everyone causing inconvenience). This way when someone decides to no longer be a member or renew their membership or however you have it setup, you just block their account until they renew. Keeps it nice and simple :)

For what its worth, I have a client that I just did the exact same thing for and it worked out great.
