Using Paypal w/cart & shipping - Post...
What's the best deal shop owners have found for receiving payments? Paypal charges .30 per transaction and 2.9% so it wouldn't pay to have too many $1.00 items on your site unless they were bundled and transactions weren't coming $1 at a time.
On bundling... It would be great if there were some provision given for 'combined shipping' where if a buyer buys several items from your site, they can save on shipping charges AND be encouraged to buy more during a single transaction, making that Paypal .30 per transaction, a little more palatable. CC development may not be working on any combined shipping concepts. EVEN if this amounted to buyers sending a seller a quote for shipping where the seller entered a price or coupon for the buyer to use as they checked out. With the ever rising costs of shipping, any gained edge would help.

I believe it is .30¢ OR 2.9%, which ever is higher. You could always increase your price to make up the difference.

I dunno, SirAGE - I'll have to look again. I believe I was dinged for both as part of Paypal Payments Standard.
No you are right. It is 2.9% and .30¢. I just checked my account. But as I said in my last post, you could always adjust your price to make up that difference. And if you are shipping a product (Unlike me), you could always make it up in the shipping price.

Have you considered a free shipping option, available with a setting stating minimum order to use the option
Description :: (1) orders in excess of £20.00 free shipping
(2) Orders £1.00 to £09.99 £ 2.50
(3) Orders £9.99 to £19.99 £ 1.50
I know there are some customers who will try it on and select free shipping when spending £2.50, but in my experience most genuine customers comply

That's a good idea, Viv - I'll explore that more. Thanks
With careful setting up, you can have a minimum set, so for instance instead of free shipping, you could have default £1.50
with up to three addition options, i do this so all customers are charged basic £3.00 regardless, and then £2.00 extra for recorded, £4.00 extra for insured and £6.00 extra for guaranteed saturday delivery.
you may be able to incorporate that as up to order values
