Is there a way to suspend a shop or put it in vacation mode? I understand that I can individually hide all the items, but wanted to know if there is an easy way to put the shop in vacation mode with a note about when it will reopen.

Hi BabyBuns,

Not that I am aware of. What I would do is create a "Vacation Page" in an editor of your choice and have your domain point to it then just re-point it when you return. If this is something you would be interested in doing let me know and I can help you through the changes that need to be made.

A redirect to a vacation page would be a good work around. Any tips will be most appreciated.

I think you can also save your shop as a 'catalog' that will still display all your items, but there is no actual option to buy. Simply put on your home page a statement that the shop is closed while on vacation and list the date it will re-open.

I would suggest making a backup of your shop in another directory before doing this, just in case. I'm kind of paranoid!

Just select 'Your Shop' from the top menu then select publish as catalog.

Ok so a quick question:

Who is your hosting provider? More than likely there will be a CPanel you can log into to direct where your domain is pointing to.

Step 1:
Create an HTML page with what you would like your users to see and call it index.html

Step 2:
Create a subfolder-directory on your server and name it something like vacationPage (again this can be done through the CPanel or ftp server like FileZilla.)

Step 3:
Place the page you created in the sub-folder

Step 4:
Go to the domain management and change the pointer from the root folder location to sub-folder

Step 5:
Usually once you change this setting another field will show up to enter the directory sub-folder name. In this case point it to /vacationPage

Once these changes are done anyone visiting your shop should only be able to see your vacation page.

You learn something new everyday about software you use on a regular basis. Good call here Gunsmoke! This would probably be a faster fix Baby-Buns.
