Most states use destination-based sales tax, which defines the source of the transaction to be the destination at which the product will eventually be used, or the address to which the product is shipped. This is a more common practice, but one that is also harder to manage. In this case, retailers who ship product to an address within their state must collect sales tax at the rate of the address to which the product is being shipped. The following states operate on a destination-based model:
Alabama
Arkansas
Colorado
Connecticut
District of Columbia
Florida
Georgia
Hawaii
Idaho
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Minnesota
Nebraska
Nevada
New Jersey
New York
North Carolina
North Dakota
Ohio
Oklahoma
Rhode Island
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Vermont
Washington
West Virginia
Wisconsin
Wyoming
apparently shopping cart pro has no way to accurately add sales tax in any of these states. I would like very much to hear from sellers operating from the states to see how they worked around this flaw. Coffee cup is not offering a solution at this time. The impression I get is that not enough people are affected by the shortcoming to correct it.

I made a store for Ohio with 88 different county tax rates and out of state is no tax..
http://www.brevebeautyproducts.com/

I made a tax rate for each county and one for out-of-state. The buyer chooses their county or location for the tax.. I didn't see any issues,,
,, other than the tax dialog window needed re-sized in the program, but I think that was fixed...

edit
go on that site i made, add something to the cart and go have a look at the cart page,, choose destination..

Has there been any advancements with obtaining custom info from a customer (ie name to be embroidered) without having to use forms? I'm afraid my forms are making folks aprehensive to buy from me.

I think anything a user fills out on a webpage would be considered a form.:) Whats so scary about your forms.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Eric, I totally agree that forms are used everywhere...but there seems to be fear & confusion over having to enter their email address & complete the form only to be directed to another page which tells them to go back to the previous page so that they can select their options & add their product to the cart. It would be AWESOME if the form could somehow be embedded so that they simply complete the form info, select their regular options, & then add to cart all in one motion without having to seperately submit the form & such. Then it would mirror the ordering process on most other sites...customers wouldn't question the process & all pertinent order info would be in one place for me. And maybe that's a possibliltiy & I just don't know how to do it...

Can you confirm if there are any expectations to include an online mechanism for updating products and product information online (via an admin area/back office function) rather than having to have access to a local machine with the coffeecup cart builder software installed?

The product itself if a fantastic piece of software, but this feature is desperately lacking from its capability, and may unfortunately lead me to have to consider an alternative store solution moving forward? :(

That we have no plans to include in the software at this time. If we did, it most likely would be on S-Drive only.
