Currently I only see one option for a "Categories" drop down.

My store sells homemade greeting cards. I would like the top level navigation to show choices like "Birthday", "Christmas", "Get Well", etc.

And then each of those would have sub-categories. For instance, under top level "Birthday" I would have Humor, Children, Adult, etc.

I guess I would like to have all of the top level categories available for visitors to see without having to click the single "Categories" drop-down. I think it would look a lot better that way, and ultimately lead to more cards being sold.

Is this possible in SCC Pro/SCD Pro?

Yes, this can be done a couple of different ways. One way: Right-click in the white space of the category, like "Birthday", and select "Add Subcategory" from the popup context menu. Change the name of the new subcategory to whatever you want, such as "Humor".

Lather, rinse & repeat. See SCC Pro partial screenshot, below:

Thanks, I can tell you put a lot of time in that. Unfortunately that doesn't address my question. I know how to make subcategories. I want to make multiple top level categories... In your screenshot, these would be where "CATEGORIES" appears.

In addition, I am using the horizontal nav bar format.

I use horizontal navigation bar too.

You don't have to leave the name as Categories, you could change the name to "Cards", "Card Types", "Greeting Cards" or "Card Varieties" (you get the idea), with the sub categories that shunned worked out as above. Maybe not exactly what you would like, but maybe an option?

That type of functionality is not in the software at this time.

That's an interesting concept Scott, might not be too hard to incorporate for the team if they were to just allow us to create buttons and link them to specific categories already setup? Even if we can't input a URL for them (which should be possible too) we could have a drop down menu incorporated in the button setup that you choose a category or subcategory to point that button to. Doesn't "seem" like it would be too hard, and that would be pretty handy while still keeping all the working functional pages within the creator. Food for thought

Nothing is ever "easy". Adding support for something like that actually has a big impact on the shop design, themes, Shopping Cart Creator and Shopping Cart Designer.

yeah good point, it does have to span quite a ways to work, especially in the themes area. It could work though! I know it could! LOL *goes back off in her own little corner on her own little chair....*

Changes to design are never as easy as they sound. You change this, you break that. That's why it's important to perform a thorough systems analysis before the first line of code is ever created. And that's why some things will never be supported.

But... but .... I'm good at breaking things! It's what I do best! If there wasn't something for me to break I'd have no purpose! lol
