RE SCCPro

I have read 10 pages or so of tips & etc and not seen this addressed. I am a novice with limited skills :/

First [ probably very simple ] has anyone found a clever way to break areas of text where a lot of test is used? My site is created totally in Shopping Cart Creator Pro, and I am looking for a good way to neaten / separate parts of a main page. My only tools seem to be _____ and **** or font color. Any suggestions?

I have read that some types of 'boxes' or 'frames' inserted with html can cause problems with spidering the site.

Second, does anyone know if CC Web Site Font software can be used successfully with SCCPro?

Thanks in advance for any help,

You can place this in your page between your blocks of text.:)

Or you may use <p> </p> tags... But I prefer <br />

Thank you all. I saw that but was not sure that would work in SCCPro [ sometimes you just have to try ]. I got bold and even added a marquee text area. Beginner I know lol

Now for the fonts.....I am a font fanatic.
Baseline has the greatest 'MegaFlakes 2010' font and I would love to be able to use that on a Christmas site I am building.....

Have a great weekend everyone! :D

to enter the tags in SCC programs you need to do it 1 of 2 ways. They have to be like Eric posted within the square brackets

[[[ text or image or whatever here ]]]

and it must be 3 brackets as above.

Or you need to use the HTML Tool to input the items you want to use, and the tool will add the brackets for you so don't do both.

Using the break is however you want it, but the square brackets do need to be included, just wanted to clarify that :)

As for the fonts Norma, not everyone has all the fonts that exist so the issue you might have is that some people may not see the nice pretty fonts you include. I am not sure if the Web Site Font program would work for things like this, I guess I can't see why not though. I've never used the program myself so I am not sure how it even works, but if it ends up being a file of some sort, then I would imagine you can add it with the square brackets just like anything else.

Hopefully someone that knows about that font program will chime in for us to let us know :)

Hi all. Thanks for all the suggestions.
I did use the HTML tool to add that, thank you for the reminder. I am not 100% sure what it is supposed to look like ~ just a solid clean [ empty ] break in the page I surmised? I also inserted a _____ between unrelated text and it looks cleaner.

Given a bit more time I will be able to insert some pictures and I hope that will help. I don't have the Pix Converter just yet but will invest in it after I get some updates posted to my existing site ~ so I can post pix on my S Drive Storage tab and be able to do that. Learning about all this as I go. Complete novice.

My site is strictly a shopping cart so it has some instructional text. It can look pretty boring so I am just looking to juice it up, with me not being all that savvy. I want to keep it as uncluttered as I can without too many gimmicks, so I prefer subject related pix as opposed to graphics. I have a 'link to pages' index on the home page, and that is bad enough lol

As for the fonts Eric, yes something like that. I just want to be sure if I go to the trouble others to be able to view them, because I know about web font issues being limited to 9 or 10... The Web Font program indicates that they will be able to. It sounds like a super program!
I have a support ticket in on the subject so I will get back and let you know what they say ::) . I also asked how Flash may effect Google's ability to crawl the site, if I use the Font program ~ as it uses Flash, somehow. I have read that Flash can make a site hard to crawl and I would not want to interfere with that.
I don't really understand Flash so.... I have to ask them. :/ Just can't grasp that concept.

I like Baseline's MegaFlakes 2011 http://baselinefonts.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=83 but there are many many others. For a Christmas site the special fonts would be great, Christmas nuts love all that stuff.

When I hear back on the support I will be back. When I have my upgrades posted [ maybe next weekend ] I will share my site. Very insecure about sharing it until I get those done lol

Thanks again for all the help. Maybe I can contribute something soon.

Norma, The example I gave you eliminates any font issues as far as the end user viewing your site. The font gets load through the url from its location on your server so the person viewing your page doesn't even need it on their pc.
Also the spacing issue may not be as clear to me as I thought. Are you trying to put horizontal or vertical space between your text?
If you entering your text on the page and want more horizontal space between then place the code below between the letters and repeat the &nbsp; as necessary as in the second example.:)
[[[&nbsp;]]].
[[[&nbsp;&nbsp;]]]

Vertical space can be added by hitting enter.;)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Vertical space can be added by hitting enter.;) hahahaha Even I figured that out lol .

No kidding on the font! So it actually pulls the font type from my source. Wow, I never heard of that.
I am going to give it a try this week ~ it will become one of my exercises in learning. Along with a laundry list of others. That is awesome, thank you again. No end to what I need to learn.

The sample site you put up is quite helpful :D I know I will use it again.
My shop is in S Drive and I love keeping all my programs CC because they are so compatible with each other. Heaven only knows I need the support.

Well, when I do get an answer from support I'll post it here. And I promise to post my site soon ::)

Many thanks again,
Norma

Hi Eric, Joanne,

ANSWER from Orlando: Web Font is not designed to be used with SCCPro. He mentioned "manually edit the .php scripts for the cart' but I would not attempt it myself and he said its a lot of work.

After half a day of tutorials I finally was able to download some fonts and a font manager. Then I went back through your instructions and I understand what I am supposed to do.

I am having trouble uploading / locating the font files and will get in house help in the next couple of days and hopefully solve that.
I could also use pix embedded on the page to break them up. In time I will have that ability so I will put this on the back burner and move on.

FYI Orlando did not think the standard html for centering text placed with the HTML tool would work on text, but I just tried it and in preview it did in fact work!
I will be trying some other things along the way, I guess you never know.

I will keep checking back for more tips. Thanks again for all the help.
