Hi (Yet again)

Following my problems with inventory updating I got to thinking maybe I have another issue waiting in the wings here. I have some items which although the same in appearance come in different sizes (weight). So a customer has 4 weights to choose from, they choose the weight via a drop down menu, an example here :

What happens if I sell all of one weight but the other weights are still available ??. Will it show as all the items are sold ??

Hiya Titus,

The inventory system does not have a way to decipher which item is which so the total inventory of that product is all it knows. It does not see each different Optional Field setup as a separate inventory item. If you want to keep the inventories separate you'll need to make separate products for each of the different weights or manually adjust the inventories as you sell them.

I jumped on this thread as I saw Brewing and that season will soon be upon us in dear old Oz. Anyway what Jo says is right. They are different products.imagine roses, Look the same,smell the same but available in different colours. Sort them by type and you should not have a problem. Looked at your site, totally agree, separate the different weights and treat them as different product. Ahh! Fishing, cannot wait a warm weather fisherman am I
