I am currently creating a large cart for a client and we are just listing products with item numbers and descriptions only. Is there a way to disable the photos with the question marks? I don't want page after page of empty photo placeholders.
Ideas?

Most of the editing of SCCP has to be done with SCDP (shopping cart designer pro) but I am sure this is something you cannot change. For the most part, I am sure CC assumed that we would all want photos of our products.
You could just use photos that have a solid color that matches your website background. It would give the appearance of a shop with no photos.

OK... solid colors is a good idea if there is no option to bypass photos. I do have the total package (Designer and Creator) and I did not see an option to delete the photos. When you have over 2500 items, that would be a LOT of product photos.
Hopefully your background color is white. If it is, can't you just ensure there is no boarder and then it would stay blank? You could size the photo the smallest available so there is not a huge void in the photo area.
Novice here, though.
Unless, just thinking aloud, if there is no photo it leaves the photo with the question mark in it, and there in lies the problem with my idea.

Just curious, what kind of product does a person sell that you don't want photos of?? Or should I ask

My client is a box and paper company and we think everyone knows what boxes and paper looks like. He also has paper plates, cups, cleaning products, etc. These are items that are all self explanatory so no need for individual photos.
Interesting concept Pixelpusher, but I think your client is mistaken on the power of pictures when it comes to products. I don't know about you or anyone else, but I for one will 'always' choose a site to purchase from that provides photos of the products, I never purchase from a site that doesn't include them. Only exceptions would be software from things like CC where there is no "physical" product and even in their case they include images that represent their products.
You may want to talk to your client and explain that concept to them, because they are really hurting themselves by trying to do it this way. Just my opinion of course, but as a major online consumer, and yes of boxes and packaging and paper products of various kinds, I can definitely say it makes no difference if it's self explanatory or not.

Are the boxes going to be white or brown? Are the cups going to be tall or short, thick or thin? A picture says a thousands words. I can't imagine buying anything online without a picture of it. Can you see Amazon not listing pictures next to something saying it was self explanatory?

I agree with the others. You need pictures. I buy a lot on the internet and can't imagine not having photos. 2500 is a lot tho. Just my 2 cents worth.
