Working with no max-width full width...

Hi all. I'm working with a full width header setting "no max width" to the row, but I want to keep a column 1200px wide central.

In other words I want my rows background image to spread the full screen wide - but without its content ending up at the screen edge (I want to keep the column content to my 1200px wide in the middle).

P.S. I can cheat to achieve it using a background within an exact positioned object added to the html afterward, but I don't like doing that.

On the layout tab set a push on the spans. The grid width minus the center content width divided by 2.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Sorry - I'm not getting it. Do you mean the column spans of my row? I've got my grid set to "Width Auto" and "Max-Width None". So what's my grid width?

Confused :/

Think I'm going to need my hand holding a bit on this one.

Hi Andrew I think I know exactly what you mean. What you want to do is drop in a subgrid to that row you set the max width to none.

One of the cool things about RLM is that there are several ways to achieve various goals. You can do what you were wanting in three ways.
1. Personally, I usually drop in a container.
2. Steve's solution is one of the easiest and work very well if you will need more than one row in the area.
3. Another way to achieve the same thing is to adjust the push and pull settings that appear on the layout tab as Eric was saying.

Here is a helpful article about how to use Push and Pull.
