I'm quite adept at designing static websites using several different "visual" editors, but I'm not a serious coder (know basic html), and don't know much about css, so the different tag choices in the properties have me going in circles.

OK I don't think you have to be a total coder to be able to use the RLM effectively it does help having some knowledge of CSS but the ideas of spans of 12 etc and wireframes are pretty new to me, so when you've coded everything previously it's a learner for all of us just in different ways. If you can put some screen shots of things that your having difficulty with maybe with your header and footer it might help.
