Hello All, Looking for a little help. Been building and running sites for many years but was on Frontpage and never kept up with new design so am now just starting out with responsive design.

I have made a few layouts but made a new site for one of my sites with a Layout maker pro template and am having some issues with a few images and cant figure it out.

The site looks fine on the pc but not on my phone. I have three issues.

1. The logo on top of the page is shrinking so small it can barely be seen. I think it may be because the menu is in the column next to it but would obviously rather have the logo bigger and centered once smaller and say the menu drop under it on the smaller device or vice versa.

2. My big picture going across the website on top totally disappears on the smaller device. On one of my other layouts it just gets smaller to the device size but it is still there.

3 Last, I have four images in the middle of the page. The row is set up 2 span, 4 span, 4 span, 2 span with the two photos of each row of course in the 4 span columns. They stagger on the smaller device rather than collapsing and being vertical.

Hope that's not too much to ask and thanks in advance.

The site is www.cancuntarponfishing.net

Hello from Sunny Bali

WOW ---- RLMP ---- I wonder who uses that nowadays :D

Im gonna have to dig out my old commodor 64 to open that app :D:D

So long since I used that have forgotten more than I knew before,,, I think the images issue is to do with the column set up 2 span, 4 span etc but for the life of me at the moment cannot remember the set up, I will dig up my old RLMP and see if I can replicate it

Hang in there

Jonathan, if you zip up and post your .rlmp file, it will be easier to look into the issues. If your zipped .rlmp file is too big for posting here, upload it and let us know where we can download it.

Haha, Wayan! there actually are some of us using RLM(P), even today. :P I feel I get much less clutter with RLMP than with those apps that are doing everything for you.

UPDATE::

Cannot replicate what is happening with the images,

I have done like you describe set a column up 2 spans - 4 spans- 4 spans-2 spans inserted 2 image placeholders in the 2 ---4 span columns
The column is set to " block"
The image placeholders are set to "inline block" dimensions width 100% max-width "none" left & right margin "auto"

They stay put fine all the way down

maybe you could attach the project file so people can look at exactly how it is set up,,,, I don't have templates for RLMP so can't look at the template.

I would be inclined to try out RSD (or if you want to be really excited Foundation Framer (although that works from mobile up so gets a bit of getting used to)) achieving something like you want is so much easier and visual it would be a breeze.

Try attaching the project file first,, I will continue to try,, and you never know someone else may chip in,, as long as they have dusted off the app also.

Hey Inger

I sort of know what you mean about clutter,,,, my thinking (unlike a lot of others out there) is just because it's there and available doesn't mean you need use it --- one can still build pretty clean & simple sites with the others without any of the bells & whistles,,,, but still with the options and ease of use,,,, immediate visual awareness and the life saving "flexing" & containers if required...... Except for the short run today,,, RLPM is going back on the clutter shelf,,,, only getting dusted off every now and again, when housekeeping feels like dusting it down again :D:D

I would also love some recommendations of these other apps you are all referring to.

Ok

at break point 567 your large picture the column that holds that image is set to "display = none" all you need do is set that back to "block"

For your images set both the 2 span columns to display = none at the point where the images start to break (738 px) and the 4 span columns to 6 spans or 12 spans as you desire

your logo needs setting to 8 spans with the menu thingy setting to 4 spans

that should do the trick

Unless Inger has a different way,,,

I haven't looked at your file yet, Jonathan, instead I have built one the way I would have done it. I haven't bothered about the rows and columns with text, just the images.

Mind you, I didn't use any class names, I thought you would have your own preferences anyway...

Now I'll look at your file...
