frame target

I am trying to update an existing website wich I wrote some time ago using frames. I am trying to do this using Reponsive Layout Maker

I have a webpage with two frames one above the other. I wish to keep the same display in the top frame while the lower frame can be loaded with different html files. This is no problem with a frame because I know the name of the target.

How do I do this with RLM? Do elements have a target name?

You cannot do that with RLM as frames are pretty much moot at this junction in web building being very very outdated. Frames are not something that is intentionally "added" to any software anymore and about the only time you see it in a web building software is if it has been there for a while and they just never took it out when it became no longer the best way for page layouts. CSS has replaced the Frames setup as well as using server side includes and such.

What you do with RLM instead, is you create your main page layout with your Header logo area, footer bottom area and any side areas that you intend to use for side columns. Get that page to include all the bells and whistles that RLM will allow you to add and make sure the layout works in all device sizes correctly.
Consider this to be your Home page and add any extras you want on it to take up the middle content area so it can be used for your Home (index.html) page.

Once you are satisfied that all the components are there in the layout that you need, you then create a duplicate of that page for the next page and put the elements on that page that you want on it. Rearrange the content if it's for a different page to put things where you want it.

Rinse and repeat.

There is no need for a frames setup with this as CSS will position everything for you and do it much more efficiently.

Hope that helps :)

Peter are you looking at frames or iframes? Just making sure of the terminology.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.
