Looking at a template and playing with things and I can't get a background to be transparent. I tried copying the choose a color code and it takes on a gradient not transparent.

I missing something here I know and its probably simple

With the relevant item selected, in the Background section of the Design panel I ensure that the Image drop-down menu shows None, and click on the square showing the current background colour. That brings up the 'Choose a Color' box. Reducing the number in the 'a' section to zero makes the colour completely transparent.
