Wierd stuff going in the latest HTML...

I know there have been posts about this, but its happening quite a lot now....

As to how, I am not sure, I only have two or three files open at a time, and making some changes here and there, its when I shut the HTML Editor down that I get this promping to 'save changes'.

The thing is.... its happening to files that have not been worked on, just opened.

I have a php file that I use to load albums at random, tonight when I shut CoffeeCup down, this php file was flagged to save the changes....

The text displayed on the screen under the 'LoadAlbums.php' tab... Was indeed instantly recognisable to me as that of my home page Index.php...

I have seen others mention this happening to them too.... So its a real live bug, thats for sure.

There's some wierd stuff going on in this new HTML Editor release, and I so hope someone finds
what it is..

I cannot tell you EXACTLY what I do, so please dont ask, I am just working for a few minutes editing a file, no real deal, then. closing them all after they are saved and uploaded....

Hopefully someone else is seeing it too, as its very prevalent at the moment...And I am not doing anything intense or unusual....

I edited only three lines tonight...

I cannot upload a screenshot here as its flagged as too big, if I resize it you wont be able to read the text as its so small.... So I have uploaded it to my site and here's a direct link.....

http://manxmaniac.co.uk/images/ChangedFile.png

The image shows the contents of index.php contained on the page of LoadAlbums.php as shown in the live tab... Note that index.php is the active file highlighted in the left menu...

File pointers going crazy.... Maybe?

Thanks
Peter

I personally have not had this problem... I know a few people that have, but I have never been able to replicate it so I do not know what is different from you and me. :(

Happens to me all the time too, and most of the time if I see that I say NO because if I don't it blanks the page out on me. I believe they have a fix going in for this issue though so hopefully it fixes it all the way around :)

Interestin stuff...

That's in a way why I posted about a Bug Reports forum, could even be 'Bug Reports and Related Info...'

No one from CoffeeCup has been in here, and in some way, that would have been nice.

Just to get info on things.

The changes that have been made in the new HTML editor have some underlying problem I guess,
and Jo Ann has said that there is a fix in the pipeline. Is there...

It would be nice to know officially about that at some point... I am not in any way criticizing the efforts made here, but there seems to be a real lacking in the info that's made available.

For years I used to work away and be in awe that the HTML editor was so well written, never any problems at all.

Its not easy I know, but somehow without all the amazingly good forum input I read, the editor
may not be what it is.

Apparantly ideas for improvements are welcomed beyond belief, so lets hope there's some
detail put up on what the issues are.

After all, moving forward is a good thing, isnt it.

Moving Forward is not a good thing, it is required... We are in an age of endless possibilities and we have to change with the times. We can not get stuck in the same old routine, we have to change and expect things around us to change...

We are here Peter. Remember that this is a public forum and while we do try our best to monitor them, if you need direct communication from us, open a support ticket. This way you are guaranteed to get a response to your question.

We are working on an update that we will have in a few weeks with more new features and fixes. What you are describing I am unable to replicate in the current version, so I think I can say this issue is no longer a problem.

Thanks for that Scott,

It isnt easy I know, and to be honest I was only a bit frustrated that no info seemed to be around.

The disappearing contents of a file has been a pain in the ... to say the least and good news that it has been pinpointed.

Breaking new ground for the program sometimes unlocks other stuff I guess,, but its all in a good cause and getting better. With the simplicity and uncluttered way the editor works being a brilliant thing...... and I just got used to it :)
