Hi all
many many thanks for everbodies input on this
here are my replies
"The strange characters are in the markup when I look at your source code, so in HTML Editor are you seeing them in the markup on your local drive?
Are you uploading the files using the inbuilt ftp or do you use an external client? "
- when I do " open from web" for my page
http://www.electricsense.com/index-7-1.html the characters appear, when I look at the source code in my browser the characters are not there, so it seems we are not seeing the same thing? Any changes I make I then upload using the inbuilt ftp.
"What is actually in the place of the strange characters on the page before you made the change? Blanks, different characters, or nothing the characters just magically appear.

Can you publish the same page with the free version as a test? "
- line 47 of the source code says "“Beating Electrical Sensitivity – The Path to Tread” examines " but when I do "open from web" this becomes "“Beating Electrical Sensitivity – The Path to Tread†examines" so its blanks, quotation marks and a hyphen which seem to cause the problem. I dont know how to reinstall the free version while I have the paid version already installed...
"As well as what Eric suggests, could you include the .html file index-test.html in a post.
Another thing worth checking is the FTP settings within CC HTML Editor and see if your advanced settings expanded view shows the passive mode check-box checked or not. If the characters you see when published are not actually in the html you are uploading, the issue must be with the way the ftp element is dealing with your server.
Are you using the inbuilt ftp or do you use an ftp client? Also, who is the host? If it is a third party, please try setting up a free S-Drive account and publish the same site to your S-Drive to see if this anomaly manifests itself on there too. That will help us to narrow down the underlying cause.
Thanks,"
-I cant include it as a post for other reasons. The problem with codes appears when I download it from my server, I upload using cchtml editor, I click on the upload icon, then ftp account, hostgator, /public_html. I need to reseach setting up an s-drive
"Check this bit of text:
"Electrical sensitivity (ES)…..are some "
Try reducing the dots to only three. "
- the dots were in the first version of the page which worked ok with the free version of the editor so it cant be this
"Oh, and one more thing:
If you have copied the text from a Word document or something, remove the double quotes and write them in the Editor instead. "
I tried this, I still have the problem, see
http://www.electricsense.com/index-test2.html
Thanks for your input!!
