Opening Files with the HTML Editor -...

I always had my HTML editor have file association with php files to automatically open them up in the editor. After and update on the editor the other day it no longer allows me to open it up. As a matter of fact even when going to an HTML file and right clicking and select "Open With" then using CC HTML Editor it will not open those files either.

I know in the past I had to go into regedit and delete the coffee.exe in Applications in order to allow for the association with PHP files but that file is still deleted and just wondering if I am missing something

Windows 10 did it OK for me by going to Settings > Apps > Default Apps > 'Choose default applications by type', and choosing .php.

I also found that The HTML Editor also could be chosen as default via Windows File Explorer's 'Open with ...'.

I'm wondering whether perhaps installing The HTML Editor to a folder other than the default one could perhaps cause such problems as are mentioned in the first post above.

I don't know whether it's the case with The HTML Editor, but I've found that a lot of software runs into problems (e.g. when updating or upgrading) if one installs other than in the default folder. I guess this may be because programmers and beta testers rarely test programs in other folders. In any case, my experience is that installing, re-installing etc. programs is usually far less hassle if I always just use the default folder shown by the installation file.

My update kept the php association to the HTML Editor.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Thanks all .... for some reason I had to take the route that Frank Mentioned above (going into settings) but for some reason it would not work with the "Open With" choice....
Also found another possible problem since doing the update..... when using the internal editor's FTP to upload files it does not give the the overwrite? prompt

I even created a new upload server and still does not prompt me to overwrite or not

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
