HTML Validation Question for Jo Ann -...

How strictly should you take notice. The reason I ask is I loaded a theme that works perfectly and did a validation and it came up with a few errors. I corrected them but seemed nit picking. the theme was deep red which is a well designed one and did not have any problems displaying in most browsers.

If it works fine., if it don't fix it. Who lands on a nice page checks the validation and try's to find a form to complain. I do admit if you are up to your arm in crocodiles it is sometimes difficult to remember your task was to drain the swamp. So in those cases I suppose it will help.

I'd Like a fair swat at that if you have time Jo. I respect your knowledge at coding. A html debugger would be good. Especially when I am up to my armpits in those bitey critters. It would sure be an improvement to my language

Hiya Prism,

Well to be honest it depends totally on the types of errors you get. If they are errors for deprecated code you can many times ignore them if you test the pages in most major browsers and they work. Deprecated code will many times still work, but will evevtually be discontinued so you should use care when using it. Deprecated code has almost always been replaced with a better code solution and the validators usually tell you what to replace it with.
If they are structural errors you should not ignore or use them and they should be corrected as they will most likely cause trouble down the road soon.
If they are Flash code errors you can almost always ignore them.

There are many degrees of errors really so it's hard to give you a concrete answer. Got a link to a page or pages you have in question? I can give you better ideas if i see the error messages.

If I may chime in here...

Any company offering templates/themes should make sure that they are in accordance with the latest standards of the time when they were created. If a template is revised later, code that has become deprecated since creating, should be replaced by valid code. As far as I know, CC is regularly doing that.

I guess some users will make their own mistakes anyway, ;) but from the start, a template should validate. Even more so if you have to pay for the template.
Ha en riktig god dag!

Thanks for that Ladies, I will take to heart your comments and Jo you'd better believe I would come begging for help when I get stuck.
I shall keep my errors, as fixing them helps me to come up to speed faster. I need to, to complete my present project. I can only bend the system partly.

Well good luck on it Prism, holler anytime you want help, I'm sure either myself or Inger and a few others will help chime in and that's always good as I learn as I see things others post too. Have fun with it, it's quite a cool language to learn and so powerful!

My problem is getting a program to create it for me, A bit like turning knobs on the tv with kitchen tongs in someone else's hands.
Just joking. When the program is taught the rules it behaves itself. I have to ask on its behalf.
When is a program not a program. "When it calls you an idiot" The times a coming. Hopefully I shall soon knock your socks off. I am starting to wish I never heard of the term Responsive now it has me by the -----

I dream the stuff, It is like the Blob all consuming. Heeeeeelp. Remember the Blob I think that dates me

You do realize that Topstyle programs already do the CSS stuff right? In other words, there are already programs that are up to date for CSS creation as well as CSS3 now too. Just in case you weren't aware that other programs already do that for you :)

CoffeeCup's program does CSS too, but it's not updated in quite some time so it's not CSS3 friendly yet, not sure how friendly it is for CSS as I've not ever used it, but it may be pretty good for the basic CSS2 also.

I do know of them but this is just a small integral part of the Auto Responsive Page Maker. It has to fit right in with the various grid layouts. Producing menus will be easy compared to some of the other features people have on pages. Collapsing image sliders. hmm! should be interesting. As long as I can visualize a solution I can program it.

Like the CMS system, principally I just want to prove to myself I can do it. I shall worry what to do with it later. Just a hobby going wild. But it is a good way to learn the complexities of coding.

I am finding that a grid layout and css formatting are two separate entities that have to handshake. Obviously validation is important. Reusable code is good. Having fun as usual

Just noticed my post numbers stalled some time ago. How about a kick start Jo. Not a biggie though. Ahh! So has yours it seems.
