html editor won't open files - Post...
I just purchased the html5 editor a few hours ago. My Windows 7 computer won't allow the html editor to open html files that were previously on my computer. Please help.
Try this...
1. Right-click the program .exe file and select Properties.
2. Click the Compatibility tab.
3. Select the Run this program in compatibility mode for checkbox and select Windows XP.
4. Click OK.
Also you could try running the program in Admin mode.

I don't have a Windows XP computer. I have a Windows 7 computer. My Windows 7 computer does not give me a "Compatibility tab". There is no "Run this program in compatibility mode" option on a Windows 7 computer. My new Windows 7 computer is very different in some ways from my old Windows XP computer.
A few months ago, I used the trial version of the CoffeeCup html editor without any problem. Late last night, I decided to purchase the CoffeeCup html editor because I had had previous quick and easy success with it, and wanted to use it again. HOWEVER -
This time, I cannot open any previously made file in the CoffeeCup html editor! I cannot open a CSS file that I previously made with the trial version of CoffeeCup html editor. After closing a file (whether html or css), I cannot open it again in CoffeeCup. My Windows 7 computer refuses to acknowlege my CoffeeCup html Editor as a "program", and instead ignores it.
I am able to change which program I want to open my html files and css files, such as change from Chrome to Notepad++, but I cannot select CoffeeCup html Editor as an option, Windows 7 refuses that possibility.
What can I do? This is frustrating! My newly purchased $69 CoffeeCup html Editor is truly worthless, if I cannot reopen a draft file, to continue working on it.
Please quickly advise.

That sounds more like an operating system issue to me. There is nothing within the software that would prevent a file association. That function is handled at the OS level and not within the program.
This may help:
1. Close the Editor
2. Start > Run and then type Regedit
3. Delete the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Coffee.exe
4. Now try to file associate something with the Editor now.

(Win7,64bit).
This happened with the newer versions that get installed to the App Data, Roaming.... When it was in the Program Files, it was possible to set it as a default.
I tried the compatibility thing (for Win7, right-click the Editor shortcut and choose Troubleshoot Compatibility).
