Whew, I just upgraded to 12.7 and am I confused.

I popped open a line of tabs down the left side of the screen and now cant get them to go back in and go away. Nothing in the manual about it?

Then I used to have a couple of tabs at the top, one for working in my html and the other for seeing the results. Now I dug through the manual and found the F12 key but instead of switching back and forth between tabs on top, this one plops a preview window below, taking up space that I used to use for editing.

Do I need to revert to the last version or something?

You should have a tab for each open page at the top starting at the left of the design screen that all have a lttle x in them. Click it and that will close the window and tab. As far as preview play around with either f11 or f12.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Yes, and I used to have a preview of the page I was working on, next to that in another tab. How do I get that back?

Tried those. F12 gives a preview BELOW the HTML, which isn't enough to show either of them very well.
F11 opens a whole new window on my screen, on top of the HTML.

How do I get the old setup back? Or can I?

I wish people didn't have to monkey with things we like, just to make a new version of a program. At least let us use the new one the same way as the old one, the way we liked it.

And HOW do I get that left side menu mess to collapse back to the left so I don't have to look at it? Apparently I could accidentally pop it out, but there's no way to get it to go back?...
OK, never mind that last thing here. I discovered a tiny left arrow in the far lower left of the screen, that made the fricking left menu strip recede.

Hiya Melissa,

The new version opens the preview in an external window now, it's no longer on the tab bar. You'll get used to it because it's a whoooolllleeeee lot more functional than just a basic preview window now! You can now click in the code to see it be selected in the preview window and visa versa you can click in the preview window and it will highlight the code area so you don't have to hunt down where code is for specific elements of your site anymore. Very very slick little device indeed! Check it out and I'm sure you'll say to yourself "WOW I can get used to this being outside the program with this setup! :)

Hope that helps.

Well if you don't already have one, maybe a new 2nd monitor for Christmas would help? That's what I got for Christmas last year and it was a very well needed gift. That takes all the frustration out of that preview window as you can keep it open always and see things as you change them real time. That's the real beauty of the new setup. No need to tab back and forth, or open windows constantly and I'm sure that the 2nd monitor thing was probably a thought when they changed it.

Anyways, just food for thought as it really does make a big difference when it's always on your screen :)

Anyone know how I can get the Resource Browser stuff on the left to stay tucked away when I start the program? Better yet, completely disappear unless I ask for it in the future?

Slide it away then close the editor and reopen. It shouldn't be showing. It works for me.:)
